After several years of work, American director Joe Kowalski is preparing to take a major step: the world premiere of his documentary Micronations at the prestigious Tribeca Festival, which will be held in New York on June 5.

International recognition for an extraordinary subject
Co-founded by Robert De Niro, the Tribeca Film Festival is one of the world's most prestigious film events. Presenting an independent film there, without the support of major studios or celebrities, is in itself a true achievement.
Originally from Oberlin, Ohio, and based in Cleveland, Joe Kowalski has established himself as a versatile multimedia artist whose work has already been praised by publications such as Smithsonian Magazine and Animation Magazine. With Micronations, he offers a unique immersion into this fascinating world, at the crossroads of creativity, alternative politics, and contemporary utopia.
Two additional public screenings are scheduled for June 6 and 11, a testament to the interest generated by this singular work.

Iconic figures will be there.
The screening on June 5th will be followed by an exceptional Q&A session featuring several prominent figures from the micronational world:
President Kevin Baugh and First Lady Adrianne of the Republic of Molossia
Queen Carolyn of Ladonia
Grand Duke Travis of Westartica
Needless to say, glamour and originality will be on full display. According to our exclusive information, Queen Carolyn is expected to appear in a creation by the renowned designer Oscar de la Renta—a detail that is sure to turn heads on the New York red carpet.

A highly anticipated film… and perhaps a sequel?
In a message to the micronation community, Joe Kowalski expressed his deep gratitude to all the project's participants, highlighting the human and creative richness of this world. When asked by microcosme.info about the possibility of a sequel, the director remained cautious but open:
“It would really depend on the film's success and its ability to generate the necessary interest to finance a sequel!”
In other words, the success of Micronations could pave the way for new cinematic explorations of this unique ecosystem.
A promising preview
While awaiting the official release, a particularly enticing trailer is already available and sets the tone: a sensitive, intelligent, and profoundly human immersion into the multifaceted nature of micronationalism.
