Montreal, Aerican Empire — The largest MicroCon ever officially opened its doors this morning at 9:30 a.m., hosted by His Imperial Majesty Emperor Eric of the Aérican Empire. In a short yet gracious speech, the Emperor recalled the spirit of micronationalism and praised his partners, including Dominic Desaintes du Neugraviat de Saint-Castin and Princess Cloé de Sancratosia, for their key role in organizing the event. With 120 participants from 48 micronations across the Americas, Europe, and Oceania, this 2025 edition promises to be historic.

The conference began with a fascinating presentation on the science of heraldry, given by Anna Ralls-Ulrich of the Belmoor Circle. She gave way to Jennifer Rioux and Olivier de Constance, from the Principality of Aigues-Mortes, who came to recall the importance of the humanitarian commitment of micronations, particularly at the local level, at a time when large infrastructures are struggling to mobilize state support.

Dr. Philip J. Pilin, from the Kingdom of Pibocip, then delved deeper into the notion of sovereignty, comparing micronations to internationally recognized microstates that sometimes have limited autonomy. According to him, micronational legitimacy lies in the ability to form communities and act for the common good.

Ambassador Elaine Holden, from the Grand Duchy of Flandrensis, continued with a discussion on the educational potential of micronations. In her view, introducing the creation of micronations into school curricula is a powerful lever for bringing citizens closer to institutions and strengthening their understanding of living together. She encouraged cooperation between micronationalists and researchers to develop appropriate educational programs.

After a coffee break with delicious pastries, the conference resumed with a presentation by His Majesty King Ben I of Fergus. In a presentation on the fragility of nationalities, he cited the example of the Order of Malta, which enjoys sovereignty without territory, and that of the Principality of Seborga, which has been reintegrated into the Italian Republic.

His Majesty King George 2.0 then captivated the audience with a pragmatic speech on micronational legality: how to develop one's micronation without breaking the law, particularly addressing cryptocurrency and official documents. Clark Morber, from the Republic of Soundland, took over to present a strategy for delegating powers and mobilizing citizens, advocating for a participatory and vibrant micronationalism.

The Honorable Sogoln Yg Ysca, representing the Fomorian Community, concluded this session with an inspired presentation on the cultural recreation of a Celtic legend, generating general amusement before the lunch break.

The gourmet meal, praised in particular for the perfectly cooked salmon and the freshness of the salads, was unanimously appreciated.

The session began smoothly, thanks to a humorous and energetic presentation by Mark Corona of the Republic of Slowjamastan, who unveiled the history of his famous "Porder Batrol" vehicle and shared clever tips for promoting his micronation on a budget.

Asa Ward, Grand Premier of Curnon, then invited participants to reflect on the "entertaining" path to freedom, before Emperor Eric handed the floor over to Michael Farr of the Republic of West Who, brilliantly accompanied by Sultan Randy of Slowjamastan. After an interactive and humorous segment, Michael Farr refocused the discussion on a crucial topic: the establishment of a micronational justice system.

The traditional group photo preceded a panel discussion with several MicroCon pioneers in North America, including President Kevin and First Lady Adrianne Baugh, Grand Duchess Julianna of Ruritania, King George 2.1 of Slabovia, and Grand Duke Travis of Westarctica. Their sincere and inspiring discussions captivated the audience.

In conclusion, this 2025 edition perfectly balanced academic topics and lighter moments, in an authentic and friendly atmosphere. The quality of the welcome and the professionalism of Éric and Jane were widely praised by all participants, who were delighted to reconnect with this community that has become a true family over the years.
